Kiger Stallions
Our quest for the right stallion has lasted for almost three years. We were looking for the “perfect” horse - Sound mind, athletic ability, conformation, color and attitude. Pride, perseverance, and performance paid off when we “refound” Silver as a two year old grullo colt. I first saw him in March 2006 as a newly weaned colt, and I just could not tell enough to take a chance on him as our lead stallion. Serendipity provided me the opportunity to see him again as a two year old. I walked into his pasture (without the owner present), haltered him and walked him to the barn. He allowed me to pick up all four feet and walked, trotted and backed on the lead. He will be worked in Oregon as a working ranch horse prior to coming to Michigan.
Truthsayer’s Sun – or “Silver” is an absolutely stunning 2005 grullo stallion. He is by Kiger Sun (adopted in 1993) out of Kiger Truthsayer (adopted in 1987), both Foundation Kigers. He is the last breeding stallion of this line. Silver was acquired from Dave Porter of Fern Hill Farms in Clatskanie, Oregon who originally adopted Kiger Sun. Dave acquired Kiger Truthsayer shortly after she was adopted.
As of October, 2007, Silver has been under saddle for 60 days. His basic training was in Burns, Oregon under the direction of Corine Elser, where he will also be worked as a ranch horse and in working cow horse novice competition.
Silver was chosen for his natural gentleness, conformation, athletic ability and soundness of mind. We expect him to be a truly exceptional horse.
